50% Monastrell / 50% Tempranillo
Though I’m not entirely sure how I got here, I’m currently in the midst of a serious Spanish wine phase. Regardless of the origins of my new fixation, I’m glad I’m here, as it led me to discover the Bilogia ’06. This Monastrell Tempranillo blend starts off with rich, dark fruit flavours and super soft tannins. The Tempranillo then takes on a sweet vanilla essence, while the Monastrell (more commonly know as Mourvedre) maintained a rustic feel.
With each sip, I loved the wine more. Even more impressive was the fact this wine was still awesome on day three. You can’t really ask for much more than that from a $20 bottle; that’s what “value” wine is all about. Paired with a tapas style meal complete with green and black olives, artisanal bread and soft mild cheeses. delicioso!
